I Am a Caladium

Born a bulb in blackest soil, covered in total dark. A lonely space beneath the earth, waiting for rains to come. Felt the moisture of early spring, started to reach for the sun. Broke free of my darkness, towards the light, growth of my stem begun. My flower turned a lighter red, edges a darker green. I thought my days as a garden's greeter, would create a colorful scene. Until the day I lost my stem, a circling string.... from a weed eater! contest Picture yourself a flower caladium..immense delight and joy
