Jewel, my little thirteen year old Chihuahua, had a heart attack and died.
I am despondent.
Some folks would say I lost a pet.
They speak with pity and some regret.
They say to get another soon,
And then I'll sing a different tune.
That I'll be happy once again,
Folks like that don't understand,
I didn't lose a dog, a pet.
I can't go to a store and get,
Someone else to take her place.
No other has her ways, her face.
They look at her and see a dog.
I look and see --- my baby girl.
