Notes About The Poem

Hypochondriac

Old Annie has been lying for years I think it has earned her a degree She’s so expert at crocodile tears which will gain her attention you see ... then her sham illness just disappears! She’ll google a topical disease to convince medics that she’s got it Keyhole surgery on both her knees faking symptoms, she's not one to quit - it’s Covid with just one single sneeze! I can’t understand people who lie seeking compassion for their fake ills Then claim state benefits on the sly faux tablets, mere sugar coated pills I have just one question to ask - why Quintain-Sicilian Poetry Contest Sponsored by Emile Pinet 11/10/20

Alas, like the boy who cried wolf they may find no one listening when they truly need help. Very interesting take on the contest theme.

A marvellous Quintain poem Jan, I had a friend who complained about the slightest thing always, then when she became seriously ill her family didn’t take it seriously, unfortunately within no time at all she passed away. Best wishes for the contest, Belle x

Jan, it boils my blood to see people abusing the system that was set up to help people who are truly in need. Good poem and best wishes. Hugs ~ John

Good one. Reads like a good contender to me. There are many who are held captive by this illness. I remember a couple's grave that I read about once. On the woman's tombstone it said "There was so much she just could not live without" and on his tombstone it said " He died trying to give it to her". He had died like 30 years before her also. Sara

- To google her own diseases ... oh, how well I know them ... she who I have not talked to in several years is an expert on this ... not just for herself .... but her whole family. .. I can not understand ... why ??? - As if there is not enough disease in the world - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Hi Jan, It is so sad when someone claims to be sick when they’re in good health. Folk that are “ really” sick would trade places with these “ pretenders” anytime! In some cases (maybe most) folk like the character in your write suffer from hypochondria. Well done . Best wishes in the contest. Enjoy the rest of your day-Alexis

Makes my blood boil those scroungers who fake illness and claim benefits and post pics of themselves on Facebook and the like. Love it when they get their just deserts. Tom

Because, like Trump, they will do anything to be the centre of attention! They do not care one whit about other people - which is why they are never the centre of attention! Another great write on top of yesterday's! Aloha! Rico
