Hushaby My Baby

by Dawne Zacharias

I watch as my little one sleeps
Gently in my arms, as I rock....a hush
The sounds of silence, slipping shades
of serenity, send the sleepy, silently still
                                surrendering, to the surrounding softness...
                                               Of satins somnolence,
                                              hushaby, my little one
                                            You are safely secure as
                                                  I hold you near.

This is so beautiful. It is exactly what being a loving mother is about. Awesome poem.
