Hurt Pride

With a little hurt pride
Animosity breeds
Wrongs that are mere slights
Balloon into grievous insults
That will cause great destruction

A little word is pride
A big headache is its consequence
A nightmare is its longevity
A ruinous landscape it causes

Hurt imagined
Hurt real
Does anyone not hurt?
Those that feel umbrage no doubt
Also caused upset
Should we all do a history check
Before we try to wreck?

Peace on earth
Goodwill to all men
It is a fantasy
Coming from an ill -conceived pen
We all do harm
It is just a matter of when
