Hurricane children
They were hurricane children
Surviving their lives
With mear souls and haunted
By the memories
Of their last hope blown away …
The rain slashed all around them
But sheltered in the eye
They escaped the storm
While watching all else get ripped out
Alone they watch those they love drown
And the iron roof get torn off
Rubber burning
Small hearts failing
And skinny dogs barking
The world is falling apart.
But out of the ashes
Step the hurricane children.
Singing a song about choices
Dazed eyes fixated on the lights
Escaping from their world
Of sick children and abuse.
The hurricane children.
