Hungry Monsters Under the Bed

hungry monsters under the bed are creeping

              rumbling bellies hoping for something crunchy

                    crouching creatures waiting for quiet sleeping--

                          MOMMY AND DADDY!!!!

I like this one! So down to earth, funny and yet evoking a certain feeling of sadness, perhaps a longing for the days when our parents were there to turn on the light, when we were afraid. Very Sweet!

Very GOOD! I remember those nights as though they were recent. I just knew if I kept all my parts covered, I could not be stabbed, but I remember that daring and frightening run into my parent's bed. This poem is 'nostalgic' and accurate, and it was a joy to read. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Ah, I (think that I) remember those days all too well. Now that they're grown, I miss the 'good old days' when my 'hungry monsters rumbled under my bed.' Alas, 'we don't know what we've got till it's gone,' as Joni Mitchell penned and sang back in the '70's... Very thought-provoking write, P.S! Best wishes, Gershon
