Hunger In Paradise

I'm here surrounded
for what should be normal
the cup of aromatic coffee
the old comfortable chair
a notebook tired of writing
a fruit bowl full of delights
and a ceramic vase
where an insistent succulent
challenges her own longevity
everything seems prosaic
everything looks normal
in this autumn afternoon
outside the trees
and more trees
endless trees
life in the tropics is enigmatic
nature in all its splendor
and along the colorful street
hordes of miserable
without anithing to eat
