Notes About The Poem

Humming Birds

Humming Birds

Colorful, fast-moving...
race car engine, birds.
They move like dart fish,
but in the air.
We stare... at their passing.
Coming and going
and going...
and going!

I leave them juice in the feeder,
like rocket fuel they fill their tanks.
I see them and then they are gone.
But..., they will be back.

Red, green, and even blue,
I tell you..., true.
There is something special
about everything that God has made.
It simply takes time to see,
the miracles clearly,
when they are moving so quickly by.

Whimsy, and real...
Like paper flowers,
let loose upon the wind...
to catch like kites,
and to fly,
straight...,
to the moon.

Beautiful description of humming birds. Their agility and speed astonish us ! As you have said, all creations of God are magical if we allow time to gaze upon and admire. Lovely penning, ann
