Humility - Arrogance I love to gaze at the tallest forest tree With its branches so brittle, its roots so deep, Whispering with the breeze, a sweet song so free, Knowing full well secrets that the forest keeps; In midst of storms it bends, knowing it must sway, Let the fury of the wild wind have its way, After the storm is gone, raise its head with grace, Reveal humility`s worth in time and space. Averse to me is a tree, so young and brown Claiming the sun rises and shines just for it, Believing it alone rules the world around, Whom every other tree has per force to greet; Such a tree, yielding not to storms, are laid bare, Battered down by wild winds, filled with cold despair, Its arrogance, weighing like a heavy stone Leaves it to wither under the sky, alone.
