Humanity

Having the ability to reason as we manipulate our environment,

Understanding right from wrong, at least to some degree, and

Making decisions that affect others' lives for good or for worse

Are the largest part of what separates man from beast.

No other being on this earth

Is as progressive. . . nor as destructive to the planet,

Yet that which defines also sadly seems to doom us.

We think that we are not doing anything wrong, but it has long been found that what we have done to the Earth is horrible and that we should change! Older programs used to have a moral and teach our youth. These today are after cheap silly jokes trying to entertain. They miss the mark in my opinion. Our schools here are teaching about how to save our environment and go green...very, very important when living on an island. I really liked your poem Andrea and I agree. Very well done! : )
