Humanity

Laws of Physics and Humanity #1 First Law (Inertia) Sponsor Dilly Dally 1-14-25 Objects at rest stay at res unless acted upon by an outside force. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Humanity The gravity of inertia, Jealous force, Weighs down the heart Paralyzed in fools' gold - Grounded in resistant exhaustion With flightless wings. The weight of pressure On dreams Discourages footsteps From optimism – Ambitions petrified, Abandoned in the grip Of paralytic obsession, Vacillates in stares At the blank canvass of comatose, Numb with indifference To change. Hope flees Unable to step right or left, North or south, Up or down, Chained in detachment By relentless conflict, With universal ambivalence. Yet, Bound by these stoic bonds The soul still dreams, Reaches to dazed stars Pointing north, Waiting release by the humanity Of the Prime Mover In perpetual motion.

Ah samszy, such a beautiful poem that flows with such profound diction, I absolutely love the depth of what youv conveyed and your ending aligns perfectly with the concept youv gone for! And use of words such as “ comatose” is truly appropriate and fitting also for your theme! So well articulated and expressed I especially love the line “ Hope flees Unable to step right or left, North or south, Up or down, Chained in detachment By relentless conflict, With universal ambivalence.” impeccable! Congratulations on your placement! Absolute pleasure reading this today

Dear Sam, Okay, your Humanity stopped me in my tracks. I could really sense the depth of feeling in every line. The weight, the struggle, and that flicker of hope. Just incredible. I truly believe artistic words are beautifully soul-stirring. Winter Blessings, my Dear Friend, Daniel

I like this one. Humanity faces challenges in life. Some people are able to keep on keeping on while others fold. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. Sara K

Hi Sara! It seems to me that inertia of the soul holds us in one place, unable to move until God's grace gives us a little shove - that eternal moving force. This was such an interesting contest theme integrating science and art - art truely imitation life! Sending you blessings for 2025!
