Human Nature

Love, nurture – abandon, disown...

Love, nurture – beat, rape, murder...

Love, nurture – build cities, blow them apart...

Love, nurture – despise, hate...

Love, nurture – rip young from their own wombs
                          for convenience and saleable body-parts....

Love, nurture – pray to a god that will forgive any snafu...

Love, nurture – God started with smaller creatures, and continued
                         to fail upwards....

Love, nurture – make a hell of one's world, then hide in politics, sports
                          music, theater, and poetry.

Small wonder many prefer dogs, cats, and stamp collecting....

I am one Joe. The more people I know, the more I love dogs. I find that eventually people disappoint, but dogs never do......... In this monostich, each stanza is absolutely true. Seems that what begins with nurturing love, ends up the opposite. The way your poem touches on desertion, violence, hatred, abortion. expectation of forgiveness, escaping blame, and my favorite of all... starting with small creatures and failing upwards. An amazing piece of literature Joe. It deserves a multitude of praise.

Hi Wendy; I don't think that I started with negative intentions, but I can't close my eyes to reality. Sunshine, fields of blossoms are only temporary eye-glaze for me...Christ far greater, therefore, more feeling than I, I can't bear imagining the depth of his sorrow. Blessings my friend. Thank you.

Mankind is steeped in evil . Instead of love and nurturing, what we see is mayhem. People have no concern for anyone. Their preferences have been shifted from man to animals, from kind actions of concern to sports and arts! Your moral indignation is apparent, dear Joe.

Nature has no longer become human. We prefer evil and one day we'll get our punishment.

Sad the state of the human mind and soul...greatness squandered. Thank you, Victor.

Well, Joe, this is a powerful indictment. I wonder how many times God has tapped out a re-start??! Heard a good sermon last week. Did you know when disciples asked Jesus for advice abt The End, he said, “Think of Lot’s wife.” Almost no end to pondering that. I hope. Keep hoping. Think something continues inherently wrong. Think the good/evil war is after death as well. Thanks, Joe! xoxo

Hi Sally; you can sure tell that I ran out of coffee this morning, and was not a happy camper. I am certain that ashes is the world's destiny. And for certain, if people think that after death it is all going to be peaches and cream...I am more with your understanding. Time for a glass of wine and classical music. Blessings my friend.
