How Would You Know

I am the wind that sways the trees And moves branches in ways like mime I push clouds across the blue sky one by one Like train cars on a long train track I blow seedlings around to grow in new places And I help leaves in autumn to let go In a myriad of fluttering, vibrant colors I can cool someone off on a hot sweltering day I can chill to the bone, while howling in winter I can shake things, break things, all the while Make cracks like wrinkles along my way But how would you know what the depth of quiet stillness In the air, things on land and water can be… without me? Andrea, Such a wonderful atmosphere in this poem. Now I know, and glad to. The windmills salute your lines caressed by a gentle wind. -Richard

Heidi I enjoyed reading this poem. Loved the imagery. I could clearly see the branches moving like mime and he train cars gliding across the sky... Take care.

The dire need of wind is cleverly depicted in this poem! The science teacher in me is trying to steal this poem now! No, wait No.

....hey heidi.....wind has been a favorite item since having watched a night time hurricane in my childhood....a thing that is known does not have to be directly sensed....typically that's science....the stillness of no wind is as an absence of a friend.....stan

Yes, it certainly is Tom. Nice to see you here. The weather has been up and down this week. More snow on Friday, after warm and melting now. I hope your week is a nice one. Thank you :)

Another excellent write, Heidi. Dynamic flow to your words like the winds you describe. Your poem gets a FAVE from me for this personification--especially for the depth of two ending lines.
