How To Honor Your Mother

It is the commandment with promise, to honor your Mother and Father as well; but this poem is specifically for Mothers; because for the pain she bore to bring you into this world, she should not bear additional pain for mistreatment, disrespect, neglect, or hurt from her children. Whether she is defined in life, as good, bad, or the worst, she was a life source for you and you exist because you were formed in her womb. I get it.

Your Mother may have dropped the ball some time in your life; perhaps even right after you were born... she could have been an abuser, and many Mothers have been hated for much less than that; but if you forgive her and honor your Mother, you will be blessed all the more, number 1, becoming healed inside of wounds unseen. You will have God’s favor and receive in THIS life, the Motherly love deserving of you that you never got from that Mother.

So you are reading this poem and note, because you are here for a divine purpose. And although you may have had a rough childhood, you may have had it rough in the beginning; but you don’t have it rough the rest of your life, and go out like that. The power of forgiveness is demonstrated at the cross, and thanks be to God, and thanks be to your mother’s womb that gave you enough life that you now exist.

You exist on purpose, for a purpose, not for your Mother’s purpose, not for your own purpose; but for God’s wonderful purpose! The only one who hates your existence is Satan, so never ever wish you weren’t born! I know that despite this compelling poem, many will still find reason to be bitter with your mother or parent; but the way to inner healing is forgiveness and love. Love the Lord your God, and forgive and love your Mother.

Adore her,
openly, and behind closed doors,

Bless her,
Like there’s no Mom better than yours.

Cherish her,
like time in an hourglass, spilling golden sand,

Defend her,
Against her enemies, when she no longer can.

Esteem her,
for her sacrifices, when times were tough,

Forgive her,
when her best was not enough

Give her,
her flowers now, adding more worth to her name,

Honor her,
teaching your children, to do the same.

Include her,
In days of celebration, and holidays when you can,

Join her,
in her occasions, that you can be her greatest fan.

Keep her,
heart strong, with joyful memories at best,

Love her,
through her imperfections, when patience is put to a test

Meet her,
and greet her with love, and beautiful words,

Nurture her,
like a sparrow, God’s precious little bird.

Offer her,
your helping hand, when her hands and knees are weak,

Pray for her,
When times her pain, is at it’s highest peak.

Quicken her,
making merry, when like rain, her sorrow pours.

Remember her,
you are her world, as she was once yours.

Save her,
From her fears, things no longer understood,

Treat her,
the same way, that by someone caring for you, you hope would.

Understand her,
when she needs an understanding, daughter or son,

Value her,
charm, wit, and wisdoms; in front of everyone.

Wait on her,
kindly serving, with tender loving care,

eXalt her,
knowing that one day, she may not be there.

You’ll live long, and be rewarded, like no other,

Zealously blessed for how you honored, your precious Mother.
