How the Winds Abide

How far away the winds have blown
So many of the loves I’ve known
So many of the seasoned hearts
That cradled me through stops and starts

So far away the scattered leaves
In thoughts upon a breast that heaves
For love as I now reminisce
So needed at a time like this

When feeling loosened and untied
As flowers, one by one, have died
And gardens filled of what I know
Feel likely not to ever grow

Yet winds may blow to spread the seed
Again to flourish all I need
Once love begins, it will remain
                              Another life then to regain

And with me, I am not alone
For love, that has to me, been shown
Will always be here by my side
No matter how the winds abide

I loved your poem Mike as it is so true and it actually does happen 'For the love that has to me, been shown, will always be here by my side , no matter how the winds abide.' my husband and I were going out together for a year and we drifted apart, 25 years later he phoned me, both divorced from our previous husband/wife, 6 months later we got married, celebrating 23 years in December . Secretly he was always my darling, fate and the winds brought us back together. Hugs, blessings, Jennifer

Your way with rhymes is so impressive! And creates a very captivating cadence. I love the way you’ve written this and the depth of this, no matter how time fleets and seasons change, somethings keep us going strong, like love. Love is a strong force. Very artistic and well crafted poem this is! Fave for me

Wonderful poem. When love dies it goes to someone else, like the seed. A great metaphor. Well done. Blessings.

Mike, your poetry is always filled with lines worthy of being reread. There’s a push and pull quality in them that gives love and takes it away, but always with hope of knowing that what has been lost will be renewed. A titch of sadness yet the promise of happiness to come.

Nice! A different take on winds of change, this one with a more romantic bent. Always good poetry from Mr. Gentile
