How Long Have They Told the Lies

The politicians danced around town telling all the people what they wanted to hear. Their promises came wrapped in the fine clothes of prosperity. Our town would ‘reap great rewards and absolutely no one would be left out’ they shouted. They filled the air with hopes and dreams. All the men heard the news at town hall meetings and gatherings at their watering holes. They carried it happily home to their wives. Those were happy days, anticipating all the good things to come. The politicians came and went…their promises came and went…but their prosperity never came at all.

                                          I hear you talking
                                       yet I am not listening
                                         I’ve heard it before

They certainly know how to draw the crowds with promises of this and that, they're good talkers I'll give them that. Reminds me of the snake oil men that used to roam the old west with their 'miracle' cures. Tom

I was originally going to title this, 'A Vote for Nixon' but realize it is just the same ole promises they are still selling.

Very sad to say this is very true, Jerry. The closing three lines said it all, my friend. Have a great day! Bill

Yet we find ourselves hoping that this time they are telling the truth. It is hard to think that nobody keeps their word..

So true, yet we still believe, because there must always be hope. Have the best evening possible, my friend

It seems it is easier to accept a lie than to dig for the truth.
