How Fragile Is the Heart

How fragile is the heart that loves; that stands out naked, unafraid, and takes a chance to share it all with deep emotions spent, displayed. How fragile is the heart that gives above, beyond what is required; but sometimes, that is not enough for what's expected and desired. How fragile is the heart that hurts when others take for granted deeds, and barely notice, since those fill their simple, ordinary, needs. How fragile is the heart that cries when empty with no love returned. How can this be...a heart that gives still feels that love is so unearned.

Such a beautifully written sentimental poem. It is moving and touching and very well written with great use of rhyme and word choices. An excellent example of how to write a quatrain. Enjoyed this thoughtful poem very much.

Congratulations on your win, Sandra-- this is a fine poem, and by fine I also mean its keen sense of how unfair, even tragic life-- and people-- can be. It does take great courage-- and a sense of the human soul- to love, truly love, which is perhaps why so many people find it hard to.
