How Could I Have Known

My love how the years have come and gone
we have almost outlasted time
how could I have known you'd be with me forever
you were my dream

We loved each other as teenagers
inexperienced with great trepidation
we felt heaven that first date
everybody said we were too young

Was there ever a truer promise of forever so cherished
it was that short eternity we spent in our youth
I felt we were masters of our world
I carry your brilliance in my forever memories

What more can heaven offer me?
that I haven’t experienced with you
to love you has been a religion to me
a love that in my youth needed to be released

What more is there to love?
what more can I expect from it?
I have known the audacity of Love with you
How much more Love can there be in the universe?

The cynic will say
There are many more loves to explore
But I say to explore what?
How about many more hearts to conquer?

But not for me I reply
I have tasted the gift of love from my life's love
what more is there, I ask you?
Nothing; only my gratitude to my generous God

Norberto, this would have been enough to make a beautiful poem. "What more can heaven offer me That I haven’t experienced with you You have been my guiding light The love in my heart" The rest was extra wonderfulness.
