Sun poures its hot rain.
It wades drinking away the race body heat,
beneath their feet as they walk the baking street.
Neighborhood kids play upon the streets
splashing in the muddy water.
No one silent,
their mingling voices,
squeal with joy and laughter
in the gushing waves of a fire hydrant
drenching their limbs, a treat to its coolness.
