Hosting Jeopardy

Jeopardy fans are asking, “What the heck?” While the producers try to replace Trebek. I understand they are working harder still, But, so far, no one has appeared to fit the bill. How can it be so hard to find a candidate Who has a modicum of ability to moderate? When guests are the real stars of the show, It’s not the host, but what contestants know They could dub in an A.I. robot, for all I care, It’s contestants who knock me out of my chair I will support whomever they ultimately get Meanwhile I watch re-runs and do not fret! written September 8, 2021

One night I was so proud of myself. I was working in the kitchen and answering all the Jeopardy questions correctly from the TV in the living room. Gosh, I boasted out loud, "I am smarter than I thought!" to which my son replied" Mom, this is Teen Jeopardy.

I agree with you. Why make such a 'tzimmes' about such a role. It's kind of like the 'ANCHORMAN!' -- the person who reads the news, (duh!) who should get paid minimum wage, in my opinion, for doing something most 6th-graders should be able to do quite well... As the world turns, I gues...

And people go on about athletes! News anchors are "on" perhaps 12-minutes for a 30-minute news broadcast in which they muff their lines. Give me Dolly Parton with Closed Captioning!

Yeah, I hear you. So be it. Maybe do something absolutely shocking and hire an eight-grader (give 'em another year) to read the questions! That oughta do it!

How do they not realize the host does not matter because "guests are the real stars of the show," as you succinctly point out in this missive.

Beats me, Caren. I would think that would be uppermost on their mind.

I used to watch Jeopardy until the host, Alex Trebek, died, and then I stopped. I really liked this poem, especially the last two verses.

O, I do enjoy Jeopardy. In fact, it's the only TV program I regularly watch.

I used to watch Jeopardy, a great way to learn and although I liked Alex you are right, who cares as long as they have contestants. Enjoyed the read.

The problem is the look for problems in great depth. Nutty world.

I don't know what's going on, but I find it very, very amusing that they can't seem to find someone who can read those cards to everyone's satisfaction. Thanks, Kim.

oh this is funny, Milt. I do not watch it much, so i did not know this was a problem. Good grief. They should hire Steve Harvey. He is a hoot as host of ANY show.vrj

That's so true, Andrea, but he would never do for Jeopardy. Too serious, too scholarly...not many laughs. Although, Trebek was able to bring out the fun without sinking into the tawdry or the naughty that is Harvey's trademark. I love him, but he would never work for Jeopardy...too many stiff collars. Thanks for the read and your comment.
