Judy, Yes, the day that I saw it there entered some very scary thoughts in my brain. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

A most thought provoking 3 lines. Buzzards indeed convey lives lost, perhaps the elderly, while sparrows (youth) flee. Open interpretation is poetry's muscle. Best wishes, Brian

Great haiku. I read it two ways..1) the buzzard as Covid (as suggested by Harry et al) flying in plain sight and sparrows dispersing representing people keeping their distance..and 2) drivers on the lookout for a parking space (buzzard) and then all rushing to get to a free space before anyone else does (sparrows) ... :) Cheers - Gary

Harry, He is definitely a virus. No one wants to be around him. He wants and needs to be left alone. Very well thought out comment. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Alexis, I hope that for most the treatment is now better and more survive this virus that is going around. My husband's cousin was in the hospital for about a month in intensive care, then in a regular room for another two weeks, then he had to go to rehab for another 2 or 3 weeks. He was talking suicide before he left the hospital for it was that hard on him.He is home now and doing much better, gaining strength every week. Thanks for stopping by. Sara

Victor, This was when the virus had first begun to get noticed and wearing of masks and people dying had started here. Yes, he seemed like a messenger of doom for someone in the hospital waiting for death. Sara

Gershon, They are interesting birds. They will be beside the road eating a deer or some other animal that has been hit and eat so much they can't even fly away to avoid being hit by a car. That day I had carried my grandson to PT at the hospital and I was parked in the covered garage in the front row where I could see natural scene and I saw that view. Sara

Your turkey vulture looks just like the one that tried to knock me off a cliff I was climbing! Some just can't wait to eat! Aloha! Rico

- If I were a sparrow ... I would also fly away - We have some eagles flying over the house ... I'm afraid they'll catch my little dogs - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

SS, Yes, eagles and hawks will get little dogs and carry them off. Mostly they seek out other foods though like fish for eagles and mice or rabbits for hawks. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Hospital parking is a nightmare at the best of times, sparrows certainly wouldnt be hanging about with a buzzard lurking about. Hope your day is going well Sara. Tom

Tom, I am sure not as bad here in rural America as in a large city but at times one can't get a space where they need it so they won't have to walk so far. Thanks for the visit to my page. Sara
