The Horsehead

Seen in its cloud of dust -

there appears in Orion

the head of a beautiful horse.

Emerging like a rose-painted Pegasus

in the vast expanse of space,

it has galloped through the constellation

as its hooves -invisible to our eyes -

have sparked a shower

of bright new stars!

Very pretty and beguiling poetry, Andrea. I’ve photographed this object, but it’s exquisitely difficult to see in a telescope. I wrote about the Owl Nebula, also difficult in small instruments, and I was so proud to have found it decades ago.
