Horizons

Use me and I'll abuse you.

A stepping stone to a better view.

Let's bring future into focus.

My horizon chaser, I'd follow you

to untouchable finish lines.

The other side of sunrise.

No matter what direction

I'll collide with you.

Abuse me and I'll use you.

When people ask how I got that scar

I'll truthfully say, I earned it honestly.

A birthmark placed there

before kings had kingdoms

when I was yours and you were mine

 lifting each other up till

fate's intervention.

Staying down until horizons

are behind us, until our greatest

 accomplishments are achieved.

Battered spouse syndrome

without the emotional deriding

or blackened eye.

Why do I stay?

Must be the magnetism,

the places she takes me

or the way light tends to

bend her way.

TS, viewed through the lens of the first line this poem, line by line, exposes the depth of despair in a co-dependent relationship. Well written and haunting poem. Congrats on you placement

Not sure if this one is really talking about spousal abuse, as the content seems to be saying other things that are very positive. Anyway, I really enjoyed this read!! Congrats for your awesome win.

A very powerful poem,.'Why do I stay?'...This is the voice of many who suffer abuse, both physically or mentally..Sad but true..Keep writing your profound thoughts in verse.
