Hopeless

I call myself a hopeless romantic, I know I’m being delusional Falling into fleeting situationships, Only to watch them fall apart. I’m scared to open up, So I only show what’s on the surface. When I met you, you did the same Maybe we’re two peas in a pod. You told me you’d given up on love, Speaking as if you’re void of feelings. When I look into your eyes, There’s a spark waiting to ignite. I don’t have all the answers; I can’t fix what’s broken in you. Being with me might change your mind, We know how this story ends. We’re terrified of getting hurt again, So we keep this distance between us. If we get too close, we’ll break Using each other for our bodies. Part of me hopes you’ll want me; Part of me wants to end it now. Maybe things could be different Because beneath our fear, We both still see love. We both have a passion Waiting to ignite.
