Listen to poem:
*Promised deliverer, humanity’s Redeemer
Rendered a sacrifice, He paid with His blood
Divine justice on behalf of us sinners
Atonement was made so God could forgive
God could forgive
Long-anticipated, came bearing our burden
Enduring the Father’s wrath that was due to mankind
Humbly dependent, fully obedient
To the point of His death and God’s will was done
God’s will was done*
In agony and love, He freely submitted
To the stripes and the thorns, to a thieves’ crucifixion,
To the mocks and the scorns when He did nothing wrong
Whom God would make known
Christ in you, the Hope of Glory
Horn of salvation, high and mighty tower
Eternal inheritance to the praise of His name
Jesus Messiah, Son of God the Savior
Our rock and our shield, our fortress, our strength
In Whom we can trust
In agony and love, He freely submitted
To the stripes and the thorns, to a thieves’ crucifixion,
To the mocks and the scorns when He did nothing wrong
Whom God would make known
Christ in you, the Hope of Glory
Christ in me, the Hope of Glory
Our exceeding Hope of Glory
Lift our hands in Hope of Glory
