Hope

Sometimes while teetering on the edge of despair A wounded heart embraces a life-altering moment, Welcomes change into the tattered life, amending The future in ways before not readily apparent; Taking the torn-apart soul and making it new, Not even realizing the change until years pass. Sometimes, never wanting to acknowledge hope Appears near the bottom of the treacherous abyss. Written March 19, 2021

Uh, truthfully, not really...but then everyone has their ups and downs. I don't know from where most of my poems come. I just blame that pesky Muse! Thanks for reading my poem and commenting.

I love it when this happens "Taking the torn-apart soul and making it new, " and you can see it happen sometimes.

Learning to deal with adversity surely helps us grow, Milton. Most of us have had the "wounded heart" moment you describe. It's how we respond that's important. Many people give in to despair for a short time, but hope seems to return as time passes. You gave us a lot to ponder. Excellent writing! Best wishes, Carolyn

Amazing Milton, how we both have written poems about these strange phenomenons happening at the lowest point in our lives, we both have different interpretations of what goes on, my poem ( kind of reasonable explanation) might be worth a read, incredible writing cheers David

I'm back. I looked through your list of poems and could not find your poem on hope. Probably overlooking it. What is the title? I read several of your short pieces...very nice!

Profound thoughts, Milton. So true, hope is what we live with, and not cling to despair. Thank you for reading my poem on obsession - it's my personal experience I described. The video shows the artwork. Best wishes ~ Mala

Hi L. Milton, There have been times in my life when I “lived” the words of your poem, and “ hope” came like a brand new morning. The sun shined through the “ abyss” of despair. I enjoyed the read. Thanks for penning such a write:-) Alexis Soupmail

Yes when one is wounded deeply it takes time and courage to climb the ladder up again. We tread lightly the second time around. Well described Milt, thank you for sharing today, and opening me to your world of poetry.:)

We live life sometimes not knowing what to do and the knowledge of what treasures we really have. Hope a gift . Hope this isn't you. There is sadness in this verse.

It isn't me, Eve. But, I have had times in my life when, standing on the abyss of loss and failure, I experienced renewed hope. This poem seems to flow out of my psyche, so I think perhaps someone needed to read it at this time. Thanks for your visit.
