Hope

HOPE Her eyes were wide open, clothes all dishevelled and torn, They had raped her brutally, taken her dignity away The scars were there; forever to stay, No amount of counselling could ignite the spark She was always afraid of the dark She repeatedly lived her ordeal in her nightmares and even wide awake, Her parents told her not to register a complaint, for family’s honour sake, She was numbed and saw all men in similar light One incident for eons; had sealed her fate She felt humiliated, impure and was traumatised for life, Believed she wasn’t fit to be anybody’s wife. He picked his bag to go to school Smiled his innocent smile and waved goodbye It was just another day going by; when she got that call She was shocked to the core When she was told her little son was no more The beast tried to molest him, later slit his throat Just yesterday he made that paper boat Women and children aren’t safe in this dreadful place They take away their pride, their ability to trust and concept of personal space God please get out of your slumber the victims are getting outnumbered I hope and aspire our country is free of rape No molestation cases no obscene tapes No catcalls or whistles, only decency and respect No leverage of any kind for the suspect I hope this soon manifests.
