Hooked
Seemed like a good idea.
Several free counselling sessions for unemployed.
Would be nice for someone to guide her, tell her what to do.
Friends had been. Yes, was helpful.
Only took a few minutes, to shrink her troubles, relieve her woes.
Reduce her to a voiceless child, hungry for love she’d never known.
She’d never known magic was real, words waved like magic wands.
Eyes that looked and did not turn away rushed for time
Ears that listened compassionately and stayed,
Someone who could smile as she told all her troubles to, remaining calm, centred, connected.
There for her.
Just for her…
She’d never known such compassion
She never wanted to go home.
She stayed for two years.
