I wrote this in honor of children who because of learning disabilities, autism, a medical or emotional disorder, or because they are lgbtq  or trans, consider themselves different in some way from their friends.  When we get right down to it, we are probably all different in some way.

My friends love me no matter what I can share my real self, right? I wait for my chance Should I tell them at once or one by one? The words get stuck in my throat. My heart beat is heavy there I want to say guess what I want them to listen And to still love me My friends have been faithful since second grade Why am I afraid of them? I am the same person I have always been But to share, will things change? I wait for my chance which comes over and over. My heart beat is heavy inside my throat The words are stuck I want to outguess them I want them to love me But I know if the words come out they might not So I stay silent When we grow up it will be soon enough And they will be wiser and more understanding Right?
