The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide
Listen to poem:

Honey

I really love honey.
I love it on toast, crumpets and porridge
I feel exotic when I have it on Greek yoghurt
Her jar stamps her seal of sticky approval
On the cupboard shelf where she sits with the jam
And my mate marmite.
There are more bees than stars in the milky way,
Nectar transformed through bee-to-bee kisses.
During midsummer’s June
A honeymoon of spun liquid gold
Drips from my spoon.
My fingers, they’re sticky
My tastebuds are buzz, buzz, buzzing,
And the humdrum of the day
Eases away.
