Honey-Cat

Two years ago she came here to live.
I wanted a pet, I had love to give.
But this one was different from those before.
She needed patience ... a lot ... and more.

She'd been abused, she trusted no one.
A loud noise or quick movement and off she'd run.
It seemed like forever before I heard her purr,
before I could enter a room without making her stir.

She did not play, she did not trust.
So my goal to win her over, it was a must.
It's been a long haul and I'm happy to say
my fat little feline now loves to play.

She greets me affectionately all the time now
and once in awhile she will even meow.
Honey is home, it took a while 'til she knew
that she was now safe and she was loved too.

She's one contented kitty who can now live out her life
without fear of abuse or neglect or strife.
She's totally different now, as anyone can see
but did I rescue her ... or did she rescue me

It is probably a combination of both. This is a very meaningful write and could just as easily apply to an abused person.

Dear Francine, It goes both ways with pets. They rescue us just as we rescue them. You have a kind heart to be patient and nurture this abused kitty into a happy cat without fear. Blessings to you for your kind nature. Love always from your birthday buddy, Carolyn

wow, I am very proud of you for turning her into such a different and loving cat. There are too many abused animals in the world and we need more people like yOU. Great poem too, Francine.

Ahh!! Great that you took in a lost kitten who needed a friend..Most are afraid when they have had to try to make it without a home for there is so much out there that can kill them..Thanks for the visit to say get well..I appreciate you thoughts, prayers and uplifting encouragement over the years..Sara

she wasn't a kitten Sara, she was 5 and had definitely been abused, she was terrified of everything and everyone.....all the best for a speedy recovery
