Homeward Bound

When I'm weary, and forsaken
when I'm worn and feeling down
I will cast this heavy burden
far away, I'm homeward bound.

Homeward bound, homeward bound
take me there, solid ground
I will lift my eyes to heaven
while my feet turn homeward bound.

As I travel o're the highways
on the roads beside the sea
I will gaze along the byways
knowing you'll be there for me.

Through the valleys and the rivers
through the forests and the trees
in my heart, I am rejoicing
soon I'll have you here with me.

Homeward bound, homeward bound
take me there, solid ground
I will lift my eyes to heaven
while my feet turn homeward bound.

When I find you, I will hold you
and I'll never let you go
for you are my lifelong treasure
no more years of life alone.

Homeward bound, homeward bound
take me there, solid ground
I will lift my eyes to heaven
while my feet turn homeward bound.

Thank you, Jan! It was my first lyric, as well. For some reason, I did this one fairly quickly. I'm glad it did well :)

Hi Laura. This is a wonderful song you have written. It fits so well to William Joseph's Homeward Bound. The lyrics are beautiful and the song is very easy to sing. Simple yet profound in it's message. Very well done, my friend..... Robert.

Thank you very much for your kind words, Robert! I went with simple words, as you said, because I didn't want the words to distract from the beautiful melody of the song. I think it works better this way. Glad you appreciate it :)

I love this Laura. This would be a lovely folk, or country recording, put to the beautiful music! And I like that you stayed with the theme of Homeward Bound! Good luck !!
