They seem to be such sad and forelorn souls, Daver. My daughter lived in Montreal and there were MANY. One day while there, I'd given money to my son to give to a woman foraging in a garbage. She'd looked up at him and said, 'I'm a bum, not a begger!'. Nate was embarrassed, we had both learned a lesson that day. Best wishes to you and yours!! Love, Mikki

I appreciated the read today, Dave! Too many are homeless also here in Germany and some have been already victims of the cold. We have to be grateful to stay warm and have sufficient to eat.... Good message! Love, Gert

Great one. I hope that you are helping at the soup kitchen. I worked for the USBureau of the Census doing surveries and drawing maps a few years ago, I saw poverty; it made me appreciate my life all the more so this one brought back some of the memorie of that time..I appreciate your stopping by.Marriage is not easy for sure.It takes both working at making it work.I am glad to learn that you soon will be married 60 years..My parents were just a couple months shy of their 77th. when daddy died.S

Great depictions of the poor homeless man, DAver. An interesting way to end it, being thankful to him for showing US we have so much to be grateful for! Luv, Andrea

The first time I saw people living on (not in) cardboard boxes during winter in New York, I cried. Such a moving poem, Daver. No one should have to endure such hardship. The lost American dream is making sightings like the one you describe more frequent. It sure does make you grateful, doesn't it? Love, Carolyn

every time a poem like yours comes around it shows we readers the other side also...and we need to consistently see it. Thanks Daver.I was just reading some study that there may be as many as 100,000 homeless CHILDREN living in the united states today. Thanks for the reminder. -Bob
