For my family
Once again we gather here
the holidays have come.
Our lives are leading here and there
but this is where were from.
It wasn't all that long ago
we couldn't wait to grow.
Graduations, moving out,
how fast the time would go.
With each new step we venture out
on paths our fates have shown.
Still every year at Christmas time
our hearts have traveled home.
It's where the fire's always warm,
the food is oh so good.
The safest place on earth we know,
like every family should.
It's not the address of this place,
the walls, or roof or floor.
It's all the love within the space,
just inside the door.
Every room so warm and bright,
there's Christmas everywhere.
The decorations placed just right,
with tender love and care.
The Christmas' we've all shared here
will play a special part,
for generations through the years
as memories in our hearts.
Home is where the heart is,
for each of us it's true.
If I'm not home at Christmas time
my heart is home with you.
