Notes About The Poem

Hollywood Bus Bench

the bus bench on Hollywood and Highland,
crisp wind blows through a city in decay,
situated halfway in time
between nineteen-twenties Tinseltown
and twenty-twenties tourist trap,
hard like ice on an eighteen year old butt,
worked off on the night shift, eking out rent
in a strange new world, on my own

Thanks for your comments, here and in Soupmail. It's a true story, not sure I told it well in this short amount of lines and syllables.

I'd love to hear stories about working the night shift in Hollywood. Your brief poem tells a great story.

I actually lived in Hollywood when I was 18. It was quite an experience, starting my grown-up life there...and now, as I speak, I guess they're having the Oscars there. Too bad, I can't get it on my Roku box!
