'hollow, Hollow Inside'

_____________________________ Lay your head little one on my arm, let my heart comfort you; I will hold you until the very end, now fly away to Heaven; little cat of twenty years, fly. Just let go for its time for your sleep, no need to fight anymore; here is a lullaby for your journey, I will sing till the end and more; oh, such a soft sigh, now fly. How long did I cradle you to my heart, was it hours- till you were stone; I took you to your favorite spot, and sang till the birds twittered dawn; little cat of twenty years, gone. I am empty, hollow, hollow inside, oh, you took a piece of my heart; and now I have this awful emptiness, that only unconditional love can fill; and I am still singing, singing. Hollow, hollow inside will be my forever, oh, wait for me at Heaven's gate; or is that just a fairy tale I tell myself, my tears could fill the ocean blue; and you will ever haunt, haunt me. I am hollow, hollow inside . . . ________________________ June 12, 2018 Poetry/Free Verse/Hollow, Hollow Inside Copyright Protected, ID 18-1030-437-01 All Rights Reserved. Written under Pseudonym. Lovely, BW. I love the repetition at the end of |"haunt, haunt" followed by "hollow, hollow" but most of all, I love the whole scenario of your poem. Most delightful and charming. Congrats, BW.

You describe beautifully the affection you had for little Smudge, who lived a long life in your excellent care. This must be a hard time for you, dear, and you are in my prayers. That "hollow" feeling never quite goes away, but you will be able to smile again one day as you remember the love Smudge offered you. God bless you. Love, Carolyn

wow, Constance, so heart felt and beautiful!!! I'm really sorry about Smudges. Will you get a new buddy for Snuggles?I have Razzmatazz (my black cat) on blood sugar drops that seem to be helping. She seems fairly healthy except for the back feet almost flat to the ground. Your cat lived a good long life and was fortunate to have you. I have no clue how old my cat is. NObody ever knew. This poem deserves a really good win, dear!!
