Holding On
A heart without its other half
A hand empty with nothing to hold
A smile without a reason to laugh
A hidden pain that remains untold
The days eat me
As I search for that sign of you
The tears make it impossible to see
What is it I'm supposed to do?
I recall the arms that once protected me
The heart inside me that used to beat
The golden eyes that allowed me to see
The girl who once felt complete
I close my eyes to catch a glimpse of you
Grasping the memories with all my might
I hear you whisper I love you too
Yet I turn around to face another lonely night
Tears stain your picture everyday
As I remember all you mean to me
I know you're not truly away
For in my heart you will always be
Yet once again I lay here tonight
Lost not knowing what to do
Regretting waking to morning light
For in my dreams I smile holding on to you
