Hold Onto Me, Love
Seemingly flawless, this love looks to me
I’m caught up in it, if only just for now
But, this is all I need to make me happy
Even though I know it will break me somehow.
This love, I hold it closely--
It makes me feel forever free;
It gives me the power to do as I please
But I’m aware this will not always be.
For every high, there must come a low
And great love is short -lived, they say
But for now I’m holding on tightly to mine,
I will not give it up today.
Love feels like a paradise, it makes me ask,
“Why does such magic fade?”
It’s obvious it’s a losing game
But still, the game is played.
Right now I’m so high I must come down
I will come down soon, and I am afraid
I don’t want to lose this love of mine
I refuse to say goodbye today.
Just please hold me for a little bit longer,
Love, don’t leave me this way
And even if just for pretend, please stay forever,
Because I know I can’t handle you going away.
