Hold Back, Little Heart

Hold back, Little Heart,
Hold back the deluge of love
That threatens to gush out
From your portals
Hold back!

The object of your affection
May only require sprinkles
Tiny showers
Droplets of those emotions
That you keep in store
Hold Back!

The flood of your feelings
That could drench him to the core
Could also drown him
If he is not strong enough to swim
In your boundless sea
Hold back!

Though overwhelmed, Little Heart
Hold Back!
Know that you will not perish
With the weight of the love you bear
Keep it in check
Till one who is worthy
Gently knocks on your door
Who having tasted the droplets,
Comes thirsty for more.

Then let the floodgates go, Little Heart
Don’t hold back...one tiny drop
Set the pent up torrents free
And in that flood of passion
You will find your release!

Simply beautiful, Eileen. No mind, sensitive one. Like most Soupers, I don't comment much because my time on here is seriously limited. When I do have time I check my 'fave poets' list and read a couple of poems and comment on some of them. For what it may be worth, today was my "Eileen's Poetry Day". Chin up, girlfriend. Your poetry rocks!! Licia :-)

Mr Seal...You are guilty nonetheless...YOU ARE ALWAYS GUILTY of SOMETHING! ;) There...Yes, but it makes me sad because some of my earlier work is JUST as "good" as some of my ones now...They are ALL my babies and I feel hurt when some of them are ignored or unloved....If I like a poet, I DO read older poems to see how they have evolved...Anyway...just saying...

You make my heart feel so precious with loving innocence - such a beautiful expression of the Heart's true objective, to share, share with a smother, and with elegant exhaustion - hearts are such exquisite friends, vulnerable, amazing, and born to be exhibitionists! I love your sensitivity Eileen - J.A.B. %

Awwwwwww....Kim, you are a darling, you know that? Thanks ever so much...I was new back then. I sometimes get the urge to delete my older poems and repost them because I believe some of them are really good, and they never get noticed...It's sad, but oh well...This was a good exercise for me. I'm off to read your new one soon! HUGS

I'm so glad you did too. I'd read posts that people had made wondering where you were and how they missed your work. I'm glad you are back. Thanks for reading and commenting. You always do..very sweet of you! Hugs!

This was a very strong piece. And, honestly, if they didn't comment, they most likely didn't understand it. Those folks can move on while you embrace those (like now) who do get you & value your worth on here. Also, not posting 15 poems in one day helps........a lot. :) For me, one poem every several days or so. Let the reader savor your stanzas. ;-)

Yes, poetry should be like wine. Held in a cool place until it's time to pop the cork, savor the stanzas, & let loose. Me, hold back? HA! That'll be a cold day in Walmart. ;-)

Drake.....I can't hold back from writing and posting. You should know me by now...The pendulum swings...two extremes...(Yea...there is a poem on that too). If I don't write...I won't write ZIP..nada...I don't post 15 or 18 now. Becca got me in hot water! I will try to post less...I guess you are right, that way you have people knocking at your door and until they get a new one, they read the old ones...Thanks for writing, my dear...At least you don't hold back on posting
