Jack Ellison Poet Quatrain

Hockey Gold

Going out on a limb! :)


Yee haw, woo hoo and holy crap
We beat the U.S. by crickey
It's Canada's game so it's only right
Forever ingrained in our psyche

The women won gold as predicted
But our men will have it much tougher
 Up against a talented team from Sweden
For gold, it'll go down to the buzzer

Look at the pink patch of land to the north
Just above the 49th parallel
It'll be coloured a very bright red and white
Sound will reach ten thousand decibels

There's really no question in this guy's mind
The gold is a foregone conclusion
We are the best, there's no longer doubt
No longer will there be confusion

Go Canada Go! will be heard loud and clear
Olympic Gold Medalists in hockey
Reigning champs for the next four years
Can't blame me for feeling cocky

I lived and died with them! My years were the glory years with Jean Beliveau, Rocket Richard, Bernie Geoffrion, Toe Blake, Doug Harvey... and the list goes on!!! YEE HAW! Black Hawks I remember well... Max and Doug Bently! Thanks for your support of Team Canada!!!

Carol Eastman February 22, 2014 at 7:39 AM Canada's hockey is great... win or lose! Dragon wants to be in the olympics but that might not be fair to anyone else. But at 2 years old, he's too young to compete. And he's so big he'd barrel thru everyone! So think swimming and diving would be his thing. Water kinda puts out his fires before anyone can get hurt... LOL And those wings could help him keep in the air long enough for those fancy dives... The only problem would be how to refill the pool... He'd make large waves with every dive. But yeah, don't count out that Sweden team just yet...maybe when you are up by five goals in the third period you can relax and start to celebrate! I will be right there with you my friend!
