History of the Necktie

The necktie was brought into play
to keep your shirt clean every ay
but they got expensive
elaborate
too good to be bibs
too classy and designer, too costly
to eat with spare ribs.

I think it is hilarious that now they cost billions of dollars. They are supposed to be bibs!

A modern tie is a kinda road sign, a pointing finger. In the Freudian sense, the steeper the sign, the more valuable the landmark it points to)

ties used to be a social fixture...used to wonder where it came from...maybe it was a socially 'acceptable' testament to honor those of past hard times... back when we all were slaves...but a bib?...wow...right on...do i day dream!? : )

Entertaining dearest, Caren! May I add a piece of history here? Tie is a Chinese invitation more than a thousand years ago!

I'm with Robert (see below)… The guy could have just invented the bib, after all. So, onward to strangulation! LOL. :) gw

But they are so pretty, and they dress men up so! Kind of like a necklace for a lady. Beauty is pain. Ha!

A delightful write, Caren. I feel like I'm being strangled wearing a tie and would like to strangle the dude who invented them! Bob H

My husband does not wear them any more. Sometimes I see them on a grandson. The clip ons usually. Thank you for stopping by, Robert.
