History

Judging by the new laws,
The fight for peace planned eternal,
Although eternity is not known
By boundless patience,
As we know from history.
But what’s history? She is present
Right here and now
Answering all the questions
The askers want to hear
Putting off questions they don’t want to know
Until some other time
History looks young
As always, she teaches nothing
Unobtrusive, she jokes sweetly
What a classy lady she is
The secret of her youth is simple
She loves her husbands
None of them, of course
Will sleep with an old woman
And so she is reborn miraculously
Just like her husbands
Their shared passion is
Empty houses and scorched earth
Every day is a celebration
Of the great deeds of history
Celebrations are unimaginable
Without lots of lights and noise.
