Black History
As this month comes to an end
I want to begin
First of all I want to thank so many
I will name a few although there's plenty
Martin Luther King
Had a dream
Yes he did
That we should not be judged by the color of our skin
But the content of our character
He wanted us to be
All that we can be
He wanted us to love one another and get alone
He lost his life making a sacrifice for this world
Thank you Dr King for being apart of the dream
I want to talk to the youth
About Sojuorner Truth
She was an activist
An author
An amazing woman
One of her quotes is
Truth is power and it prevails
Thank you Sojuorner for making a way for us even to this day
Im sure so much has been told
I want to speak on Harriet Tubman
And the Underground Railroad
An abolitionist that helped the slaves become free
Impacted so many lives
Yes you did
Thank you so much
For touching and helping all the lives you touched
Red ,Black ,and Green
Are colors of unity
That held us together
Back in the day
It represents the blood the nation and the natural wealth
Thank you for thinking about others and never just about self
Red light ,yellow light, green light
Who invented the right for us to know about traffic lights
Garrett Morgan what can I say
Thanks for your invention
Traffic lights have saved the day
Thurgood Marshall thank you for law and making a difference so that we could be treated equal in the court of law thank you for that thank you for always having our back
Madam C J Walker she was the first woman with the care of hair to become the first African American millionaire
Yes I can never forget Malcolm X he wanted us to protect ourselves by anything necessary, he had a vision so that we could live in this world that was so scary
Rosa Parks was known
For being so great
She was tired
She didn't want to keep up the fuss
She was tired and didn't want to go to the back of the bus
She started out freedom movement
Thank you sister Rosa Parks
Equal laws
The 14th amendment explains it all
Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes spoke so much
Touch so many
Heart so pure
History in the making
So many others have made the change
Tears shed sweat wiped off their heads
The change the hurt the pain
History no longer a mystery
The ones who never have been forgotten
Getting up early picking cotton
Cotton that turned into clothes
Stories that have never been told
So many people
Who paved the way
So that we can live at peace today
It doesn't take just one month for is to see patched and stiched together we are all apart of history
