Black History As this month comes to an end I want to begin First of all I want to thank so many I will name a few although there's plenty Martin Luther King Had a dream Yes he did That we should not be judged by the color of our skin But the content of our character He wanted us to be All that we can be He wanted us to love one another and get alone He lost his life making a sacrifice for this world Thank you Dr King for being apart of the dream I want to talk to the youth About Sojuorner Truth She was an activist An author An amazing woman One of her quotes is Truth is power and it prevails Thank you Sojuorner for making a way for us even to this day Im sure so much has been told I want to speak on Harriet Tubman And the Underground Railroad An abolitionist that helped the slaves become free Impacted so many lives Yes you did Thank you so much For touching and helping all the lives you touched Red ,Black ,and Green Are colors of unity That held us together Back in the day It represents the blood the nation and the natural wealth Thank you for thinking about others and never just about self Red light ,yellow light, green light Who invented the right for us to know about traffic lights Garrett Morgan what can I say Thanks for your invention Traffic lights have saved the day Thurgood Marshall thank you for law and making a difference so that we could be treated equal in the court of law thank you for that thank you for always having our back Madam C J Walker she was the first woman with the care of hair to become the first African American millionaire Yes I can never forget Malcolm X he wanted us to protect ourselves by anything necessary, he had a vision so that we could live in this world that was so scary Rosa Parks was known For being so great She was tired She didn't want to keep up the fuss She was tired and didn't want to go to the back of the bus She started out freedom movement Thank you sister Rosa Parks Equal laws The 14th amendment explains it all Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes spoke so much Touch so many Heart so pure History in the making So many others have made the change Tears shed sweat wiped off their heads The change the hurt the pain History no longer a mystery The ones who never have been forgotten Getting up early picking cotton Cotton that turned into clothes Stories that have never been told So many people Who paved the way So that we can live at peace today It doesn't take just one month for is to see patched and stiched together we are all apart of history Written by,: Concetta Hardnett 02/29/2020
