His Old Man's Advice

Every school morning, I gave my son this advice: “Learn something new and do something nice; Make knowledge your food and kindness its spice.” I didn’t only say it once, I would often say it twice. Then, later that day when home he’d return, I’d ask him, “What did you do nice? What did you learn?” He wouldn’t always give me an answer in full, But every now and then, I heard something cool. It wasn’t much, just a little chance to connect. After twelve years of repetition, I bet he won’t easily forget, Those few simple phrases of his old-man’s advice, Every day, learn something new and do something nice.
