His Love Will Endure
In the quiet breath of a distant star,
Across the night, where the moon falls
Murmuring hope to the heavens, afar
Gentling the music as Autumn softly calls
Baffled by the mysteries of a leaf’s descent,
Blessings poured from limbs with each gesture
Falling leaves, dancing with the heart’s consent
Needless to say, they’ve been the oak’s vesture
Whatever comes, the stars still know the night
With wisdom of this forest, temperature dips
Stilling the sentiments of morning’s beautiful light
As the leaf of life sleeps upon my lips
Grumbling tears fall to remind me how I know
The warmth of September, October, my soul
It is the harbinger of winter, such a lovely show
Leaves alive with all the colors, gentle and whole
Rhythms of light, broken by the dropping leaves
It’s like a prayer, unspoken but still agreeing
Whatever comes, this is the praise that believes
When God created Autumn, He was surely foreseeing
What our hearts would need, at the end of Summer
A beautiful tour of a forest, with beauty galore
Dancing leaves and harvest themes, as this newcomer
Beckons with her gentle faith, on wings to adore
Wherever the gentle ache of our summer’s end
There is the caress of this new season
When light spills from the moon like a friend
Revealing all the wonder, autumn’s reason
Charming melodies in richest burgundy and gold,
Unfolding through the woods, such a show
Revealing to the wind – our hearts are sold
Bought by the joy of tenderness, all aglow
Warmed by the touch of a friendly gust
Curving through the spirit, coloring each hope
Meandering through hearts, good and just
Saved by our Creator, who helps us to cope
While I don’t always see beyond the beauty
This is not a season for ignoring His pen
Author of this story, but it isn’t autumn’s duty
To remind our hearts to pray and say amen
Because autumn’s note to this old, dark earth
Is a letter of gentle leaves who reassure,
Telling us that we should realize His worth
And sing our praises to God, who’s love will endure.
