His Battle

Her eyes darted back and forth
Studying his face
He was battling his demons
Far from reality, displaced

It was a necessity
For her to save him
But in doing that
Her own life was becoming dim

Every combat
Both came out with wounds
A piece of them each ruined

Every time the darkness
Washed over his soul
It was as if she was lost
Her eyes covered in a blindfold

She was a soldier in
His never-ending war
But when it was time to help her
He disappeared in the storm

I have seen this happen so many times, one battles to rescue another from the internal war they are fighting only to find no peace waiting when the scars become to much to the rescuer to bear. Dark and deep but so well written.

Ooh. Good write. It speaks of feeling and while nothing concrete, it speaks to my loving a hard core alcoholic. 7 for this affective write. xomo
