Hindsight
I watch as the tears stain your beautiful cheeks
As the pain fills your stunning eyes
As the question enters your brilliant mind
Why? Why? You ask
If only I had had the insight
The insight to avoid regrets
Regrets…I have many.
The much desired foresight
The foresight unlike the cloudy haze I look to for answers
Anything other than simply hindsight
A lone tear drops to my blank pages
Reflecting on years gone by
Remembering vividly the details
Mistakes made
Pain created
Tears fallen
Now, with a brief glimpse to tomorrow
The site of what can be is seen
Here I sit, wishing to rescind my yesterday
For what once was, is so bittersweet
Countless reasons for the bitter sweetness
I look to your face with much love and admiration
The beauty fills the mere air that surrounds you
I regret that I ever touched your flawless beauty
Until the day arrives which I no longer breathe
You, my daughter, will remain my constant
My healing and my healer
My friend
