There once was a freshman from Thomaston In ignorance wanted to have just fun When facing failing grades Played even more arcades His higher education now undone Syllables: 7-10 lines 1,2, and 5(10) 5-7 syllables lines 3, 4(6) Written: July 09, 2015 Inspired by Andrea's contest.. Quote chosen that was written by Mark Twain: "Education is the path from cocky ignorance to miserable uncertainty"..

Sara, I am sorry I said that wrong. It was the meter that was off. Not the syllable count!

several people liked that quote of Twain's and you did a lovely job of demonstrating its lesson! I think limericks sound better when they have consistency in the lines' number of syllables. Just my opinion! Anyway, I was very pleased to see your poem and now to know you are its author. Congrats for your win.
